In what is likely to become one of many such proclamations, the Hungarian central government yesterday released a statement on the chemical weapon attack in Syria last Wednesday. Hungary “strongly condemns the attack,” the official statement read in part.

“The recent chemical attack … definitely represents a watershed [moment] in the Syrian conflict. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary welcomes the fact that UN chemical weapons inspectors – following an initial obstruction on the part of the Assad regime – have finally been allowed to investigate who was responsible for this terrible and unjustifiable action. … Hungary was among the first countries to sever ties with the Assad regime; the tragic developments of the Syrian conflict and the great number of civilian casualties have demonstrated that this was a well-founded decision.”

Producing journalism that is worthy of the name is a costly business. For 27 years, the publishers, editors and reporters of the Budapest Business Journal have striven to bring you business news that works, information that you can trust, that is factual, accurate and presented without fear or favor.

We would like to offer that same opportunity to our readers. We would like to invite you to help us deliver the quality business journalism you require. Hit our Support the BBJ button and you can choose the how much and how often you send us your contributions.
