Newborn elephant in Budapest Zoo named Asha
Following a public voting, the baby elephant that was born in the Budapest Zoo on Valentine's Day was named Asha, Zoo representatives said in a statement on Monday afternoon.
According to the Budapest Zoo, the six name possibilities that was put on voting last Thursday garnered altogether 200,000 votes over the Internet, at the website of the Zoo as well as its media partners.
The name Asha originates from India - the sanskrit word means "hope", Budapest Zoo's statement added.
