Hungarian LEGO world record tower disassembled

Enthusiasts and school children in Hungary set a new world record by building the largest LEGO tower ever made, last week.

Following the four-day-long construction, a 34.76-meter-high LEGO tower was erected, standing in front of Saint Stephen’s Basilica in Budapest. The tower was crowned with the Hungarian invention Rubik's cube placed at the top of the tower by Antal Rogán, the mayor of fifth disrtict.

Rogán gave a speech for the supporters at the square and said he was hoping that breaking the world record would draw the attention to Budapest and attract more tourists arriving to the capital.

Organizers had hoped to pass the 36 meter mark to ensure the lead but eventually their efforts were good enough to beat the previous record of 34.43 meters, the record previously owned by the United States.

The construction was verified by Guinness World Records officials and as every miracle lasts three days, it was disassembled on Monday.
