History

National Economy Minister Mihály Varga held talks on Monday with Templeton Global Bond Fund portfolio manager and director of research Sonal Desai in Budapest, the National Economy Ministry informed national news service MTI on Monday.

Templeton Global Bond Fund holds $11.7 billion in Hungarian government bonds, or more than 10% of all such bonds, according to ministry statistics.

Hungary is able to finance itself safely from international markets without assistance from international organizations, Varga stated following the meeting. Varga also said that Templeton Global Bond Fund's large investment in Hungarian government bonds reflects the considerable degree of confidence that investors have toward Hungary.
