Varga: Deficit could be under 2.4% of GDP in 2015

History

This yearʼs general government deficit could remain under 2.4%, said economy minister Mihály Varga at a parliamentary committee hearing today, Hungarian news agency MTI reported. The government targets an ESA deficit of 2.4%-of-GDP for 2015.

Varga said that the government carried out a successful economic and fiscal consolidation, thanks to which the European Unionʼs excessive deficit procedure against the country was lifted, and growth picked up to 3.7% in 2014, and could reach 3% this year, Varga said.
