Talks with IMF preparation for official negotiations, says ministry

The National Economy Ministry on Wednesday reiterated that talks underway with the International Monetary Fund aim to prepare for official negotiations and establish preliminary positions.
Minister without portfolio Tamas Fellegi started talks on financial assistance for Hungary with IMF officials in Washington on Monday. A meeting with IMF managing director Christine Lagarde is on the agenda for Thursday.
Mr Fellegi will report to the government on the results of the talks in Washington next week, the ministry said.
Hungary is seeking the financial assistance as a precautionary measure that will allow the country to continue to finance its debt on the market.
