State-owned utilities company to launch in spring
Hungary's new state-owned utilities company with ownership rights and regulatory powers allocated to the head of the Prime Minister’s Office, János Lázár, is slated to offer retail gas services in the spring, followed by electricity and district heating services, the Prime Minister's Office told Hungarian news agency MTI today.
Lázár said that the organization of state utilities services is going ahead "at full steam", so the national non-profit public utilities system will assume its final form in the next 2-3 years, as earlier announced.
According to the Hungarian government, the aim of the national utilities company is to make energy available at fair prices and increase security of supply.
