Report: Russians as sole bidders win Hungarian helicopter tender

Bidding without competition, a Russian state-owned company won the tender for the renovation of five Mi-17 helicopters of the Hungarian Air Force, Russian helicopter firm Vertolety Rossii told Hungarian online daily origo.hu yesterday.

Hungarian and Russian officials signed an agreement on the renovation of the five aircrafts yesterday, according to origo.hu. Igor Chechikov, deputy director of the company, said that dozens of Soviet-Russian helicopters are in Hungary, and they are ready to renovate those as well.
Although no price was published, Chechikov said according to origo.hu that the contract is beneficial for both the parties.
