Report: Private healthcare providers’ turnover up in Hungary
Annual expenditures on private healthcare in Hungary currently sits at approximately HUF 30-50 bln, with turnover at the country’s largest private healthcare providers on the rise, Hungarian economic daily Világgazdaság reported today.
According to the daily, some businesses record annual increases of as much as 15-20%.
Market player MediHelp International, present in Hungary since 1999, has several thousand clients in Hungary, business development director András Kovács told the paper, adding that most of them are Hungarian citizens who reside in the country. The paper noted that MediHelp charges its clients €800-€2,500 a year for healthcare services, based on age.
Hungarian news agency MTI reported that market research company GKI found in a representative survey conducted last year that about half of Hungarians between the ages of 18 and 60 are willing to spend money on private healthcare rather than rely on Hungaryʼs state-funded healthcare system.
