Opposition MPs walk out when PM starts speech

History

MPs of Hungary's opposition Fidesz and KDNP parties left the chamber on Monday when Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány addressed parliament.

The two parties announced last Monday that their MPs would refuse any form of cooperation with Gyurcsány, whom they consider persona non grata in Hungary's political arena. Only the two group leaders stayed in the chamber during Gyurcsány's speech. They said last Monday this was in order to be in line with President László Sólyom's guidelines and to represent the supporters of Fidesz and KDNP.
