Official: Hungary, Norway agree to resume Norway Grants payments to NGOs
The Norwegian government has agreed with Hungary to resume payments to Hungarian civil organizations under its Norway Grants scheme after suspending payments in May 2014, state secretary at the prime ministerʼs office Nándor Csepreghy told reporters yesterday, Hungarian news agency MTI reported this morning.
Norwegian officials said at the time that the reason they had suspended the disbursement of funds was that the Hungarian government had moved the implementation and monitoring of the scheme out of the central government administration.
Csepreghy said the government still believes that there are irregularities in the way certain civil organizations receive funding from the Norway Grants.
