Hungary, Italy, Slovenia to organize joint battalion in Kosovo

Hungary, Italy and Slovenia will set up a joint maneuver battalion next year to unite their scattered military forces and perform their Kosovo mission more efficiently, Hungarian Defense Minister Imre Szekeres told Parliament’s foreign affairs committee on Tuesday.
Szekeres said as stability in the Balkans is in the nation’s direct interest, Hungary is concentrating the majority of its troops in that region. At present about 600 Hungarian soldiers are stationed in Balkan states, according to state news agency MTI.
The minister added that NATO should be prepared to fulfill the tasks arising from the settlement of Kosovo’s status. He expressed the hope that the international community would pass a resolution on the future of Kosovo by December 10 at the latest. (english.people)
