Hungarian, US patent offices sign agreement

History

The Hungarian Intellectual Property Office (SzTNH) and the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USTPO) signed an agreement on Thursday to simplify processing patents between the two countries.

United States Ambassador to Hungary Eleni Tsakopoulos Kounalakis said the agreement would allow Hungarian and US scientists to register patents in the other country 4-6 months, much faster than before and at less cost.

Head of SzTNH Miklós Bendzsel said that the two authorities have worked on joint projects since 2010 and decided to enter into a cooperation agreement last summer.
