Govt submits bill restructuring disability pensions

The government has submitted a bill to parliament restructuring the pension system for people with disabilities.
The bill would create two kinds of support for Hungarians with disabilities from the start of next year, paying either rehabilitation or disability allowance. Rehabilitation support would be paid for a period of at most three years to people able to return to the workplace with a course of treatment. Hungarians who receive the support - 30-50% of the minimum wage - would be required to actively seek work and participate in training or labour force programmes.
Disability support, to be paid to Hungarians for whom rehabilitation is not a recommended option, would be between 30% and 150% of the minimum wage.
The bill defines the disabled as those with 60% or less of their ability in a conventional state of health.
