Govt could take decision on Malev on Jan 16

Hungary's government could take a decision on troubled national carrier Malev already at a cabinet meeting on January 16, based on proposals by the National Development Ministry, the ministry said on Tuesday.
A European Commission decision on the recovery of state aid from Malev gives the government a space of several months, enough time for it to choose among the possibilities for the airline, the ministry said.
The Commission on Monday said it ordered Hungary to recover illegal state aid to national airline Malev between 2007 and 2010. The aid must be recovered within four months.
The ministry said it continues to see the involvement of a professional investor as a possibility for the carrier.
