Government could decide on setting up national tourism agency today
The Hungarian government is expected to make a decision on the establishment of a National Tourism Agency today, Hungarian daily Magyar Idők reported this morning, citing a proposal acquired by the paper.
Similarly, the cabinet could also decide today on whether it will set up a separate secretariat or deputy state secretariat for tourism that would operate under the aegis of Hungary’s National Development Ministry, the paper added.
The Hungarian government hopes to appoint a government commissioner for tourism to work with the planned national tourism agency, the paper added.
Plans to establish a single entity to deal with tasks and resources related to tourism with the aim of boosting the sector’s contribution to the national economy, were announced over the course of last week.
