Forint volatile on interbank market
The forint weakened against the Swiss franc and strengthened against the euro and the US dollar on Wednesday morning's interbank market.
The forint traded at 231.52 to the Swiss franc shortly after 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, compared to a Tuesday-afternoon rate of 230.89. The Hungarian currency traded at 271.69 to the euro and 188.07 to the US dollar on Wednesday morning, compared to Tuesday-afternoon rates of 272.62 and 189.08, respectively.
Dealers say that negative economic and financial news in the United States and Europe on Tuesday has increased risk-aversion among traders, thus providing the traditional safe-haven currency of the Swiss franc with a boost.
