Fire, explosions at wood depot in north Hungary

History

Several explosions happened during a fire at a wood depot in Visegrád, north Hungary, disaster management spokesman György Szentes told MTI on Tuesday.

Six people were injured in the accident, two of whom suffered serious burns, the national ambulance service said. Szentes said that the fire had started after an employee carried a leaking barrel across the yard, which left a trail of a volatile liquid close to a burning furnace. The material caught fire, which quickly reached the warehouse containing wood products and painting materials. Firefighters have by now put out the fire, which destroyed most of the roof of an adjacent office building as well as some two tons of chemicals, the spokesman said.
