Egis CEO to step down

István Orbán, CEO of Hungarian pharmaceuticals company Egis Rt, told a meeting of the board on Wednesday that he did not wish to see his mandate as either head of the company or member of the board of directors extended, Egis announced on the website of the Budapest Stock Exchange (BÉT) on Wednesday. Orbán has been with Egis for 42 years, 24 of these as CEO. He will remain in his position until the company's annual general shareholders' meeting at the beginning of next year, where he is expected to be appointed to the supervisory board of Egis. Orbán will propose Mrs. Péter Gál, head of strategy at Egis, as his replacement, according to the announcement.
The announcement added that Egis sales director Artur Cwiok told the board he wished to resign.
