Doprastav to win Hungarian highway contract

History

Doprastav AS, a Slovak builder, submitted the lowest bid to build a section of highway in Hungary, Népszabadság reported, citing no one. Doprastav, in a joint bid with Austria's Granit, offered to build a 36 kilometer (22 mile) high-speed road in southwest Hungary for Ft 41.7 billion ($187 million), the newspaper said. The bid beat offers from Bauhodling Strabag SE, Bilfinger Berger AG, Teerag-Asdag AG and Bouyges AS. Hungary pushed down the cost of building the highway section by scaling down quality requirements and holding a second round of bidding, the newspaper said. Previously it was said that building a section of highway is far more expensive in Hungary than anywhere in the neighbouring countries.
