Centrope region holds summit on tourism and transport cooperation
Participants of the Central-European regional initiative Centrope held a summit meeting on cooperation in the field of tourism and transport in Bratislava, Slovakia, on Monday, MTI’s correspondent in the city reported.
Delegates at Monday’s meeting determined measures to be taken in order to produce a complex regional transportation- and tourism-infrastructure strategy with special emphasis on the development and construction of cross-border transportation links. Options discussed included the introduction of unified tickets for public transport.
Participants of the meeting included the mayors of Hungarian cities Gyor, Sopron, Szombathely, Vienna, Eisenstadt and Polten of Austria, and Bratislava and Trnava of Slovakia and Brno of the Czech Republic, and the heads of the provinces participating in the project.
Centrope is a joint initiative aimed at strengthening regional cooperation among the federal provinces of Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland in eastern Austria, the South Moravian Region in the southern Czech Republic, the regions of Bratislava and Trnava in western Slovakia and Gyor-Moson-Sopron County and Vas County in western Hungary as well as the capital cities of all eight districts.
