German car producer Audi is considering making Hungary the center of its electric motor manufacturing, Hungary’s National Economy Minister Mihály Varga said yesterday following negotiations with Audi Hungaria Managing Director Peter Kossler, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.
Varga noted that the plan is in harmony with the Hungarian government’s Ányos Jedlik e-mobility project. The minister added that the government is negotiating the details.
Audi Hungaria, which is based in Győr, turns out approximately two million engines annually. The firm employs a staff of almost 12,000. The list of its business partners include approximately 100 Hungarian firms.
