Air traffic controllers call off strike

History

Air traffic controllers at Budapest's Ferihegy international airport called off a strike planned over a pay rise on Sunday afternoon, air traffic controller HungaroControl said in a statement on Friday.

The air traffic controllers' union CONTROL agreed to suspend the strike during talks on Friday, HungaroControl said, and added that negotiations would continue on a pay rise. HungaroControl leaders are confident that an agreement can be reached at talks excluding the likelihood of any further strikes, the statement said. The trade union, which has the membership of the majority of air traffic controllers, demands that salaries are doubled and a guarantee of an automatic annual pay rise is put into contract.
