Air France would be good Alitalia partner - Italy PM
Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said on Tuesday Alitalia will need international partners and Air France-KLM would be a good option for the struggling Italian carrier.
“I think Alitalia will need to find accords with international partners and ... Air France could be a good solution,” Berlusconi told a joint news conference with French President Nicolas Sarkozy. Air France pulled out of a deal to buy Alitalia earlier this year in the face of trade union opposition to its proposed restructuring plan. Sarkozy gave a more cautious reply, saying future accords between the two airlines were “up to Air France’s management to decide. I understand in Mister Silvio Berluscon’s answer the will to not rule out anything in the future,” he added. (Reuters)
