2012 budget step in right direction, says State Audit Office head

History

State Audit Office (ÁSZ) head László Domokos told MPs in Parliament on Wednesday that the government's 2012 budget bill was a step in the right direction, mainly because it reduces gross central budget debt.

Domokos gave a positive assessment of the roughly HUF 400bn in reserves in the 2012 budget, a larger amount than in earlier years. But he said ÁSZ's assessment of the budget bill had been made difficult by the lack of information on legislation governing the National Defense Fund, which is part of the reserves. He added that creating the new fund was still a positive step.

ÁSZ calculated that 63.6% of targeted tax revenue in the 2012 budget is achievable. It views 6.8% of revenue as "high risk".

Domokos complained that, as in earlier years, ÁSZ had had hardly any of the necessary supplemental calculations on which the budget bill was based to work with.
