Govt could cut utilities prices further
Hungary's government could reduce retail gas, electricity and district heating prices again this year after cutting them by 10% from January 1, daily Magyar Hírlap said on Thursday, citing unnamed government sources. The second reduction of the year, also a 10% cut, could take place in March or April, the paper said. It could be followed by another "significant" reduction in utilities prices, also probably 10%, later in the year, it added. The National Development Ministry and the head of the parliamentary group of governing Fidesz, Antal Rogán, declined to comment on the report.
