Tesco to provide mobile telephone services

Awards

Tesco is planning to launch its own mobile telephone service in Hungary, news website Index reported, citing documents which indicate that the hypermarket chain has registered domain names that imply the start of such a service.

Among such domains are tesco-mobile.hu, tesco-mobil.hu, and such similar addresses as tecso-mobil.hu and tecso.mobile.hu. The company confirmed the report.

At the moment the company will team up with Vodafone for infrastructure. There is most likely a direct link between this development and the government's recent announcement of its decision to open a spot for a new mobile frequency tender.
