Hungary's football federation has named Sándor Egervári as the new coach of the national team, replacing Erwin Koeman.

Football federation president Sándor Csányi announced on Friday the appointment of 60-year-old Sándor Egervári to coach the national football team of Hungary.

Egervári, who led Hungary to the bronze medal at the 2009 Under-20 World Cup in Egypt, will lead the nationals for the first time in a friendly against England on August 11 at Wembley.

Hungary won only seven matches under Koeman since May 2008 and hasn't qualified for a major tournament since the 1986 World Cup in Mexico.

As a coach, Egervári has also won three Hungarian team championships, in 1999 and 2003 with MTK and in 2000 with Dunaferr. (AP)
