Lawyer: Road toll system is faulty

The fact that there is only one road leading to Budapest Airport and it is a toll road is unlawful, according to Kázmér Kovács, a lawyer cited by news portal Origo yesterday. According to the lawyer, as there is no other alternative to approach the airport, the drivers are forced to pay, which is unlawful.

Furthermore, the lack of a real grace period — as drivers can show their county stickers post factum but are forced to pay a service fee — is also against the law, and thus drivers might consider lawsuit in such cases. It was reported in December that every highway and motorway in Hungary would become a toll road as of January 2015, requiring county stickers and an additional fee.
