Budapest to see more e-car charging stations

Some 500 charging points at 250 electric vehicle charging stations could be opened in Budapest under an agreement between the Ministry for National Economy and the Municipality of Budapest, news portal index.hu reported today.
Within the framework of the agreement, signed by Minister for National Economy Mihály Varga and Budapest Mayor István Tarlós, a total of HUF 600 million is planned to be spent on the investment. The agreement also states that the municipality will provide the charging stations and accompanying parking places, while the ministry will provide non-refundable grants for the investment.
The signatory parties will also investigate the regulatory environment and submit possible changes to make it better suited to electric vehicles. The two parties will also make suggestions on how the use of zero-emission vehicles could be encouraged further in the capital.
