Budapest hosts Green Economic Forum 2015
The Ambassador of France and a representative of the European Environment Agency have emphasized the government’s role in driving the expansion of a model, which encourages actions to support the Green Economic Forum 2015, an event that addresses the challenges of the global economyʼs transition into a circular or restorative economy, the organizers said in a press release.
The Ambassador also touched upon opportunities for an industrial revolution that would alleviate the rise in temperature, which is one of the side effects of climate change, the press release added.
The importance of moving from a traditional model to an environmentally conscious one was also underlined. Specifically, representatives of multinationals such as ABB Country Manager Tanja Vainio and LEGO HR Director Csaba Tóth demonstrated the application of a circular economy in the production and supply chain. While the critical methodology has been launched and is largely understood, the panel members agreed that a strong engagement among partners in the field must be further explored.
A roundtable moderated by the Dean of CEU Business School focused on the financial aspects, which play a key role in contributing to a circular economy’s success. The panelists highlighted the achievement as well as the barriers or failures when such an innovative mindset takes hold within a community. The optimistic view of the future was also highlighted and would likely be carried forward by an enthusiastic younger generation.
