The seat capacity of Air Canada Rouge’s Budapest-Toronto connection is expected to expand by 56%, the airline said today as it announced the number of flights on the route would rise to five a week – up from three – by summer.

Additionally, the airline also announced that it had just started selling tickets for flights on the route for summer 2017.

The route makes not only Canada, but also the United States easier to reach, said Budapest Airport, the operator of Ferenc Liszt International Airport, in a press statement sent to the Budapest Business Journal today.

Commenting on the additional capacity, Kam Jandu, CCO of Budapest Airport said: “Air Canada Rouge experienced great success with us in 2016 and this latest frequency increase provides a clear indication of its their continued commitment to ensure customers have more choice available to them when travelling to North America. These extra services will considerably boost our links to Canada and further enhance our growing status as a first-rate gateway.”

Air Canada Rougeʼs first flight from Toronto-Pearson arrived at Budapest’s Liszt Ferenc International Airport in June, further extending the carrier’s presence in the Central European region.
