The police arrested a 17-year-old boy suspected of the brutal sword attack against Roma teenager József Patai at Moszkva tér, on May 8. Even though the assault, which resulted in serious injuries to the victim?s internal organs, was previously assumed to have a racist motive, the suspect detained today claims to be of Roma ethnicity as well. The attacker belonged to a group of 5 to 6 live RPG players, dressed in world war era military outfits. The incident followed an altercation between the attackers and the victim on Bus 21. A week after the sword attack, various Roma and other civil organizations, as well as right and left wing parties organized a protest rally against racism, which was attended by approximately 500 demonstrators.
