Premier, EcoMin meet leaders, businessmen in Vietnam

In a speech given in Ho Chi Minh City during his official visit to three Southeast Asian countries, Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány urged Vietnam?s business leaders to enter the Hungarian market and use it as a base to reach 450 million European consumers, business daily Világgazdaság reported relying on wire service MTI. In the meantime, Economy and Transport Minister János Kóka conducted negotiations with government officials to pave the way for Hungarian companies to participate in Vietnamese state projects. In an earlier interview with business daily Világgazdaság, Kóka said he regarded IT, pharmaceuticals, electronics and machine tool manufacturing as key areas that could give a boost to trade relations between the two countries. In exchange for efforts on part of the Vietnamese government to facilitate Hungarian exports, Hungary is willing to avoid steps that could hinder Vietnam?s endeavors to become a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Kóka said this time. The Hungarian government delegation will continue its official visit in Indonesia.
