The Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) has cleared the acquisition of Invitel Távközlési Zrt. by Hungarian TV, telecommunications and internet service provider Digi Távközlési és Szolgáltató Kft., while stipulating certain conditions and commitments, the GVH told state news wire MTI on Thursday.
Digi informed the GVH in August 2017 of its intention to acquire Invitel. In the conclusion of its oversight procedure to determine whether the transaction has detrimental effects on competition, the GVH stipulated that Digi must sell the Invitel networks it acquired in 16 settlements within six months, and must also exit from lease contracts relating to independent fixed-line telecom networks in 25 settlements, MTI reported.
The GVH said that provided Digi complies with the above conditions and commitments, competition will not be substantially reduced as a result of the transaction.
