Daimler to add Saturday shift at Hungary plant
German carmaker Daimler will add a Saturday shift at its plant in Kecskemét to meet growing demand, Mercedes-Benz Hungária's marketing and PR director told MTI. The Saturday shift will start in April to fill the large number of orders for B-Class and CLA-Class cars, said Edina Kozári Sztipich. The government's new labour regulations, introduced last year, have created flexible conditions and further increased the country's competitiveness, and work-time flexibility allows the company to react imMédiately to changes in demand on the global car market, ensuring a predictable and stable future for jobs at the plant, she added. Daimler inaugurated its €800 million plant in Kecskemét a year ago. It launched production of next-generation compact models there, and started making the new CLA-Class early in 2013.
