Bokros: Insider trading should lead to prison sentence
In countries such as the United States and Great Britain, insider trading is punished with a prison sentence, Hungarian economist, politician and former minister of finance Lajos Bokros (pictured) wrote on his Facebook page today.
“In Hungary? It seems that government offices are leaders in insider trading,” Bokros alleged, with reference to the recent Quaestor scandal and questions about the involvement of Hungary’s foreign ministry.
According to Bokros, however, there is a much more critical question that someone has yet to ask and that is: “How can the foreign ministry have money to invest?” In his opinion, the foreign ministry is part of the treasury system, and cannot use money from the central budget, to invest outside the budget.
“The Hungarian state has become a den of iniquity, which keeps violating its own laws and regulations,” Bokros charged.
