Schoenherr named ‘Law Firm of the Year’ in the region

Schoenherr Attorneys at Law were awarded “Law Firm Of The Year For Eastern Europe and the Balkans (2016)" by international legal publication “The Lawyer”, according to a press release issued by the company on Friday.

Schoenherr Corporate M&A partner Vladimir Cizek, accepts the award at the ‘Lawyersʼ European Awards’ gala in London.

An independent jury of 25 senior in-house counsels and senior partners from U.K. law firms selected Schoenherr as the leading law firm in Eastern Europe and the Balkans. In addition to being named “Best Law Firm of the Year” for the region, Schoenherr was also shortlisted in two other categories: Austria and Romania, according to the press release.

“These Awards are not just about single achievements, but rather the collective effort of many dedicated professionals. I am proud to be able to say that we do have a clear advantage in Central and Eastern Europe because we were basically one of the first international firms to enter this region. And we came to stay,” said Schoenherrʼs Managing Partner Christoph Lindinger.

Schoenherr advised on a number of transactions in Central and Eastern Europe last year, including advising Ingram Micro on the acquisition of the CEE business of the Value-Added Distributors RRC Group; Blackstone on the acquisition of equity real estate assets from GE Capital Real Estate with a compound global volume of over €1.9 billion; Praktiker Group on a multi-jurisdictional deal involving the sale of Praktiker business from several jurisdictions across the CEE region; Laško, Sloveniaʼs leading brewery group, in the sale of over 51% stake to Heineken; as well as Telekom Slovenije on the acquisition of Debitel, the press release noted.
