Vehicle, engine production grows at Audi

Vehicle and engine production grew at German carmaker Audi's plant in Hungary last year, Audi Hungária communications director Mónika Czechmeister said, according to business daily Világgazdaság.

Czechmeister told the paper that production increased in both segments in 2020, adding that the plant in Győr (120 km northwest of Budapest) had turned out its 38 millionth engine and its 1.5 millionth vehicle during the year.

She said that last year's summer shutdown was shorter than ones in earlier years, and a yearend shutdown extended to the full range of engine production for only the last week of 2020. Audi Hungaria was Hungary's second-largest company by revenue in 2019.
