Investment volume in Hungary up 9.7% yr/yr in Q1

Investment volume in Hungary rose 9.7% in January-March 2006 from a year earlier, according to preliminary figures published by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) on Wednesday.

In the first quarter, seasonally adjusted investment volume rose 1.5% compared to Q4 2005. Seasonally adjusted growth was 0.9% in the last quarter of 2005 from the preceding three-month period. After an increase 7.8% in 2004, investment volume grew 6.4% year on year last year. The value of investments was Ft 778.479 billion in January-March 2006. Building investments increased 16.4% in Q1 2006, while investments in machinery and equipment increased 3.7% year on year.
