Approximately 84% of Hungarians are not willing to give up their conventional television services, market researcher Nielsen said after conducting a representative survey, Hungarian news agency MTI reported today.

The Hungarian average is just over the European standard of 83%, the research company added. According to Nielsen, currently 86% of Hungarians subscribe to cable or satellite television.

Only 3% of respondents said they subscribe to video on demand services (VOD), well under the 11% average in Europe, and below the 26% average of the 64 countries surveyed by Nielsen.

According to Nielsen, VOD services serve more as a complement to rather than a replacement of conventional television services, MTI reported.
