Road connecting Szolnok and Budapest to replace M4
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán yesterday announced a proposal to expand the No. 4 road between the capital and Szolnok, central Hungary, and turn it into a four-lane highway by 2019, Hungarian news agency MTI reported. Orbán made the announcement after signing a cooperation agreement with Szolnok mayor Ferenc Szalay.
The road will bypass Szolnok, he said. Previous plans to extend the M4 motorway between Szolnok and the capital were shelved by the government this spring following complaints from the European Commission that the cost of the project was too high.
