Bulgaria Unemployment Rate Edges up in Q3

Bulgaria recorded an unemployment rate of 4% in the third quarter of 2023, which reflected an increase of 0.4 percentage points (pp) compared to the same period last year, the Sofia-based National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on Friday.
In the third quarter, the overall number of unemployed stood at 125,000, reflecting an annual rise of 12.6%.
Men made up 55.9% of all unemployed. Youth unemployment, between 15-29 ages, climbed by 0.3 pp on the year to 8.3%, equivalent to 29,300 unemployed youth.
The employment rate among aged 15 to 64 went down by 0.6 p.p. year-on-year to 71.5%, which corresponded to some 2.85 million people, data showed.
