Lawmakers approve 2022 budget

Parliament approved the 2022 budget, which the government expects to support the recovery and put Hungary back on the growth path, on Tuesday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

The budget was approved with a vote of 132 for, 26 against, and no abstentions.

The budget targets expenditures of nearly HUF 28.547 trillion and revenue of almost HUF 25.394 tln, putting the deficit at about HUF 3.153 tln.

The budget puts the ESA accrual-based general government deficit at 5.9% of GDP and targets a reduction in year-end state debt relative to GDP to 79.3% from a targeted 79.9% at end-2021.

It calculates with GDP growth of 5.2%.
