Latvia Inflation Rate Edges up in March

Annual inflation rate in Latvia increased to 0.9% in March from 0.4% in February, data from the Riga-based Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) showed.
The higher inflation is mainly driven by accelerating prices for clothing & footwear (1.7% vs 1.3% in February), goods and services related to transport (2.1% vs -0.3%), recreation & culture (3.7% vs 2.7%) and slower deflation of housing & utilities (-6.9% vs -8.1%).
On the other hand, prices slowed down for food & non-alcoholic beverages (0.7% vs 1.5%), alcoholic beverages & tobacco (4.7% vs 5%) and miscellaneous goods & services (3.9% vs 4.6%).
On a monthly comparison basis, inflation increased to 1.2%, following a 0.1% rise in February.
