British American Tobacco (BAT) will invest HUF 60 billion to set up a center for manufacturing smokeless products in Pécs, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said on Friday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

The investment will create 450 jobs, Szijjártó said, adding that BAT's local headcount was close to 1,000 at present.

Usman Zahur, BAT's area director for Central Europe, said the investment could make the unit in Pécs a global center for production of smokeless alternatives, building on over 30 years of cooperation with Hungary.
