Hungary State Debt Ratio Reaches 75.2% at End-Q2

Hungary's state debt relative to GDP reached 75.2% at the end of the second quarter, a second reading of data released by the National Bank of Hungary (MNB) on Monday showed.
The ratio was a little higher than the 75% in a preliminary reading of data released by MNB on August 18.
The state debt ratio edged down from 75.4% at the end of Q1, but was up from 73.9% at the end of 2022.
Hungary's constitution stipulates that year-end state debt relative to GDP must decline until the ratio reaches 50%.
In absolute terms, Hungary's state debt stood at HUF 52.727 trillion at the end of Q2, HUF 1.552 tln higher than at the end of Q1, and HUF 3.893 tln more than at the end of 2022.
