Orbán Gets Assurances Bulgaria Will Scrap Gas Transit Fee
Boyko Borisov, the former prime minister of Bulgaria and the head of political party Gerb, told Prime Minister Viktor Orbán by phone on Tuesday that an interparty agreement had been reached on scrapping a transit fee on gas bound for Hungary, the PM's press chief said.
The sides also discussed the matter of Bulgaria's accession to the European Union's passport-free Schengen zone, Bertalan Havasi said.
Hungary has protested the higher transit fee on its gas from Russia, arguing that it is tantamount to a customs duty which is prohibited on the common market.
