Night Frosts Caused Serious Damage to Orchards

The nights of negative temperatures last week have caused serious damage to orchards.
After a temporary warming, night frosts will return again this week the National Meteorological Service wrote in its agrometeorological analysis.
According to the data published on the website, on March 24, an unusually high daily maximum temperature of 25ºC (77ºF) was measured in several places; then cooling came in several waves.
Air of Arctic origin rushed into the Carpathian basin last Monday, night frosts formed from Tuesday, and especially on Wednesday when the wind stopped.
The soil temperature at five centimeters depth is currently between 5-8ºC (41-46ºF).
