Drought affecting significant parts of Hungary
There is a drought in a significant part of the country, the National Meteorological Service wrote on its Facebook page, emphasizing that the recent hotter summers and the intensifying heat waves strengthen the "drought tendency."
Last year was dry in Hungary, which continued into 2022.
The most severe drought is in the central and trans-Tisza parts of the Great Plain.
The half-year precipitation did not reach the average 200 millimeters east of the Danube and remained below 120 millimeters in the larger area of the central and trans-Tisza Plain, which corresponds to roughly half of the usual value in the affected area, according to the service.
